StemChef!

Looking for a fun, but also educational experience for your kids? If you’re in the Bay Area, come check out Stem Chef in Danville, CA.

Such a creative idea: combining the suspense and excitement of an escape room experience, yet weaving in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) puzzles and experiments to unlock the clues- and tailored just for kids!

First off, the space is adorable. Ashie, the owner of Stem Chef, is a UC Berkeley grad and trained scientist who was inspired to start this business venture in part due to her own young daughter. She was able to create a magical space that is also highly functional and intriguing for little minds to explore.

This is a drop-off experience for kids ages 8-13 (children aged 6-8 may attend if accompanied by a paying adult). Upon request, Stem Chef can cater to ages 14 and above by increasing the level of difficulty. Participants can expect a 60-80 minute adventure solving puzzles, getting clues that lead to a recipe for creating a delicious dessert at the end.

Getting their first clue!
All the clues lead to a recipe for chocolate mouse
The chocolate turned into a mousse consistency with the use of a cream whipper and nitrous-oxide charger

Thanks, Stem Chef for a sweet afternoon. You may purchase escape room tickets on their site ahead of time. The science theme changes every month along with the dessert recipe. Bonus: they also throw birthday parties!
